The Vista building was an eight-story building formerly on Perdido Key. This condominium had 64 units over varying size and design. The property is gulf front and was made a total loss due to the combined effects of wind and flood on the structure. The location was the first building on the island coming from Escambia County and very near the landfall of the eye of the Hurricane Ivan. All of two tiers closest to the gulf were completely destroyed by the flood and collapsed after the surge swept away the shallow footers under the building. Many other portions of the property were damaged by wind and flying debris.

Complete was hired to identify the damages in concert with a well respected local engineer and overlay the costs of restoration associated with the individual damages from wind and flood. A careful analysis was completed and a large portion of the loss has since been resolved. This is the ideal type of claim that Complete is set up for. We are serving on the plaintiff’s side on this file for a very good law firm but have ended up gaining business from the defense counsel after they got a chance to see our work. This is typical of a good expert in that we can demonstrate the reasons for our opinion without the need for undue criticism of others. As is often said in our business, it is what it is.
