This massive condominium complex was damaged by Hurricane Wilma in 2005. The property consisted of more than a dozen buildings with more than 500,000 s.f. of heated and cooled space. The HOA hired a general contractor that performed limited repairs and in some cases made things worse than they were initially.
Complete was brought in by counsel for the HOA Leiby, Stearns and Roberts, PLLC to determine the value of the work in place, the remediation costs associated with the repair work from the contractors’ attempts, and to present the way that the property should have been restored. Complete provided testimony including a resulting damages worksheet to an AAA arbitration hearing in Miami. The result was very much in line with the position presented by Complete. We learned a lot from this experience as to how to successfully prepare for arbitration.
